How Do You Hand Feed a Spino Pteranadon Kibble

The taming process, for many, is one of the most attractive features when it comes to Ark: Survival Evolved. Howvever there are many aspects to this that casual players may overlook. One of these facetors being "Imprinting".

Once you have successfully bred a baby dino/creature and it has hatched and reached a certain stage you will have a further option throughout this process. Most people just leave it to feed from a trough  once it has reached its juvenile stage and forget about it untill they are ready to use. Although whilst this process is fine for many, some may wish to increase the stats of the dino before it fully reaches maturation. This is called the "Imprinting process".

Why to Imprint?

The main reason people will be using this technique, is to increase the overall stats. If a dino, when being raised, is successfully imprinted upto 9 times, its base stats (not including stamina and oxygen) will be increased up to 97%. The result of this means that if ridden by the person who performed the imprints, they can take on other creatures who are double their level, through the use of these boosted modifiers.

How to imprint a dino/creature?

Throughout the cycle of its maturation process, every 3 or 4 hours you will have to perform a certain action. This is to be completed once the timer above a dinos runs down. The prompt on screen in which you can view this will say "Wants care in .... X amount of time remaining". One this timer has reached 0 you will have to do one of the following

  1. Wants a random kibble - here you have to put the required kibble in the last inventory slot and feed to dino/creature,
  2. Wants a cuddle - simply approach and press either E on PC/Mac, Y on Xbox and Triangle on PS4,
  3. Wants to walk with player - to complete this you simply needed to whistle follow and then walk around. This does not cound if you just move in circles so it is advised to walk in a straight line back and forth.

As you can see this process reuires a lot of time and detication, especially if you are looking to fully imprint, 3/4 hours * 9 care stages = 27/34 hours.

Always make sure before you begin that you are fully prepared and have a whole selection of different kibbles ready just incase they are required.

One further note is that when you are imprinting flyers, movement speed is not effected and also Wyverns need milk instead of kibble during the imprinting phase.
